Location acceptance for arcade map

Pixelated
Currently, the Android Play Store isn't home to a one-stop shop for retro arcade game enthusiasts who wish to relive the good old days. This is a significant problem, as many people born in the 80s and 90s do not have easy access to these types of games. Our app, Pixelated, is tailor-made for those who are nostalgic for beloved old retro games. Our app will include several classic arcade games such as Galaga, Pacman, and Centipede. Our app will not only allow the user to play games; it will also show them where the nearest arcades are located, locations of Pixelated users nearby, and it will also display the users current high score alongside a global high score leaderboard. Our natural user base will consist of people who enjoy playing mobile games, especially the classic retro ones.

The Perfect Backyard

This project was done utilizing many aspects of creating a 3D, animated world in Three.js, including, but not limited to, ShapeGeometry, applying UV mapping to textures, environment mapping with skyboxes, vertex and fragment shaders, bezier curves, normal maps, bump maps, and various forms of transformation, including translation, rotation, and scaling. This project also gave me the opportunity to create models using Blender, a tool that I used to create the people playing cornhole, the cornhole boards, the bees flying around the garden, and the lilypads floating in the pond.

Digital Cinema Production

Premiere Projects

In the Kitchen
The goal of this short project was to create a minute-long music video that embodied any given song of our choice; I chose In the Kitchen by Renee Rapp. This project provided me with an introduction to cinematography, lighting, focus, and post-production, as well as how to use and operate a GH5 camera.

Wisconsin Volleyball
This video is a documentary of the experiences of Vince Nayman, a manager for the Wisconsin Badgers Volleyball team. I gained exposure to filming interviews that adhere to industry standards, and this was my first creative project that I worked on with another person, giving me experience with balancing creative control and reaching mutual compromise.

Reflection
This project is an original narrative short, written and produced by every member of the group. Creating this video introduced me to the process of writing an intruiging story with compelling characters and interesting dialogue, and it helped strengthen my post-production skills, including seamless editing, sound, and coloring contrast.

Humanity in Animation
The goal of this project was to gain more experience in Adobe Premiere Pro by incorporating chosen video, sound, and song assets into a cohesive video remix. As many of my projects have been created in a highly-regulated course setting, this was my first opportunity to create a video with almost full creative control.

The Hold Up
This project expanded not only my technical abilities in Premiere Pro, but my storytelling abilities; for this video, we were given a rolling video of scenes, which we were then instructed to construct in a manner that told a story to our audience. I thought it would be most interesting to clue the audience into the robbers' true intentions well into the video, rather than at the beginning, to mirror the experience of the rest of the characters in the scene. Additionally, this project focused heavily on match-on-action shots, providing continuity and seamless editing.

Skateboarding Sizzle Reel
This reel is an extension of the concepts I had used during 'The Hold Up', with less of a focus on narrative structure and more on using a variety of video effects provided by Premiere Pro, including the VR Glitch, Black and White, Time Remapping, Color Gradients, Blurring, and Wave Warps. This project was also my introduction to Bars and Tone and Black Video.

Photoshop Projects

Photoshop collage: medieval portal

This is my very first collage done in Photoshop; in creating this project, I learned about many of the basic tools in Photoshop, the lasso, brush, burn, and crop tools, as well as layering and smart objects. This is the first of two collages that reflect the desire for escapism in the modern world. This collage emphasizes the desire to leave our world behind for a more magical one, whether that be driven by nostalgia or boredom or sadness.

Photoshop collage: business to nature portal

This is my second iteration of the my first collage: where the first one (see above) focuses on a more fantastical desire to reach a time or place that does not, or will not, ever exist, this one focuses on the dream of escaping to a place that is real, but seems just as unattainable. I focused on a desire to be present with nature, something that I often feel when I am stuck indoors for too long.

Photoshop collage: business to nature portal

This image was also created in Adobe Photoshop; the purpose of this project was to sharpen my understanding and mastery of various tools in Photoshop, including not only the basic tools, but adding Gaussian blur, noise, and tampering with image brightness, contrast, and hue. I also learned how to create false shadows to make the photoshopped image look more real.

Scripts

"Cherry Chapstick" is the first fully fleshed out script I've written; it was the final project for my first screenwriting class, and it taught me about character and plot development, helped me practice short-form storytelling, and encouraged me to explore the creation of dialogue and action.

Summary: A talented makeup artist has landed her first professional job on a TV show that has just been renewed for a second season. The TV show is set in the 70’s, and it stars two up-and-coming actors; these actors are the makeup artist’s clients. At the beginning of our story, they have begun production on the second season, when the makeup artist realizes she is developing a crush on one of the actors.

Tone: A romantic drama; "Daisy Jones and the Six" meets "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", if both were set entirely in the present day. The characters are working to navigate the intricacies of mixing fame and friendship in an era of increasingly invasive fanbases.
"Light of Dawn" is the first full-length script I have written; it gave me more practice with developing complex characters, interleaving storylines, and topical themes. I learned how to write and compose beat outlines, chracter backgrounds, and story pitches, and I learned how to budget my time throughout and entire semester to finish the script in a timely manner.

Summary: Maya, a rebellious, downtrodden college droppout, takes her best friend Sasha to a party, which ultimately results in her friend sustaining a life-altering injury. In the aftermath of the accident, Maya learns that incidents in our past do not solely dictate who we grow up to be, and that apologizing for our actions does not necessitate forgiveness from those we have hurt.
